Dreamscape: The Future Of The Military?

Ok so here we are once again folks, delving into my subconscious mind, searching for entertainment an sustenance. I sit here typing this fresh out of the dream, trying desperately to grab hold of fading images, so let's get this train wreck a rollin'.

This dream is a sequel to one I've had before. Or at least it feels that way. I may have just been given that impression by the dream itself. But the gist is that I'm living in a world where I go to school underwater. For some reason only the children and the school staff can breath underwater, as when the 'narrator' explained that the only thing more terrifying than a military attack was seeing your parents at your school, to which I immediately responded by swimming down into a fully submerged classroom where I could safely avoid their scrutiny.

I meet a girl who is a sort of lizard/dragon woman. I get a lovely narrated flashback detailing that she was adopted by a similar, rich woman, who had asked the orphanage for a child who 'looks rich'. We fast become friends, and participate in something where these giant ball/wheel things roll down a hill with people in them, only while we're doing it, we unleash too many, and the entire underwater street is trampled. The girl gets in trouble, and I'm left wondering just where the hell my camera was at a time like this.

After a brief interlude, we jump forward some time. The girl has been kidnapped, and I'm in the military, charged with the task of saving her. We get to some mountain, and I think to myself "Ugh. I've already done this level." so I load my previous save and go from there. Now we're sitting in a rescue boat, the girl finally safe with us... We're in a cave under the mountain, and my teammates are trying to work out what to do. The achievement "Frenzied" pops up, congratulating me for having killed the deadly hoard of undead in that level, but I think little of it. I'd gotten this before...

So we seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. Or more accurately, a lava pit and a storm. Our boat rocks with the unstable waters, which for some reason mix seamlessly, and the lava is just really hot, not skin searing as it should be. I look out to sea and turn to my partners. "Oh here we go! I love this part. Hang on tight when the wave hits". The seem to ignore my 'precognition' and we drive the boat out of the cave. Suddenly a huge wave sweeps under us, hitting the mountain, and for some reason throwing back a tidal wave. We are scooped up by this, and carried far far away from the mountain.

We jump through a loading screen, and are treated with a short shot of out parents worried about us, thinking we'll never get home. Cut back to us, and we've come ashore, and waiting for us is Cornel Roy Campbell. He thanks the stars that we made it back alive, but tells us there's one more mission we must undertake to get home. He tells us to set up camp just over this hill, and so we move to the location and set up beds. As we do, one of my team pulls out his gun (No one else has theirs yet as we left them back up the hill for some reason...) and aims at someone down the hill. Campbell tells us not to fire unless fired upon, and sure enough a round whizzes past, so he kills the guy. I run up the hill and grab my gun, letting rounds fly into my opponent, but it seems that they are unaffected. I look down and realise that my gun is set to training mode, and so it's harmlessly shooting blanks. I try to switch it to regular gun mode, but the switch comes out of the gun. We are quickly rescued by Campbell and he is very disappointed in me.

I decide I hate where that path is going, so I load the game again back in the cave in order to get a better score, and everything happens the same. Now when we start to set up beds, I pre-emptively go back and get my gun and switch it to kill. Now I go back to the beds, and this time we aren't attacked immediately. But there IS a woman in the guy next to me's bed. I draw my gun on her, and she assures me she's a prostitute, and he tells me he hired one. She starts to go down on him, and he makes odd noises. I look a bit closer, and it turns out she's biting down hard on his dick. So I shoot her in the head, because she must be with the enemy. Her friend sighs, and goes to pull a gun, and I go to shoot her, but hear a click. I realise my gun is set to single shot, and have to cock it again. I do so and shoot the woman, quickly resetting it to full auto.

I get to the top of the hill, and look back. Some enemies are coming at us from behind camp so I put them down easily now that my gun works right. I turn around, and find myself in a house on the hill now. I start to pick off enemies. They start to fire back, and then shit gets weird. "They have clerics!" I shout as I put a few more rounds into one of two healers who are casting cure on each other. A mage (think Vivi from FFIX) throws a fireball at me and I shoot him dead. Then I fire upon a guy wearing a big iron vest with a picture of a bomber man bomb on it, and he laughs as the bullets fail to do anything. A team mate yells "You've gotta kill his defence first!" and throws a bomber man bomb at him, which when exploding, spins his chest plate around and exposes his soft underbelly. "Seriously guys? Who throws a bomb?" the guy asks annoyed, and I drop a few rounds in his chest and kill him.

The battle rages on for a bit longer, but suddenly tanks pull over the hill. I go to map view (like in Advanced Wars) and see we have none. "Shit." is all I can say before the tanks unload on us, and we all die. I get the option of loading or quitting, and I select quite. I then wake up.
